MADE IN SWEDEN
Slowing down is an important human ritual. From the Finnish palju and the Swedish Spa, to the Japanese onsen, for thousands of years people have reconnected with nature, their families, and themselves through wood-fired bathing.
Like the inner peace one derives from a tea ceremony, think of each step of preparing the fire, splitting, stoking, airing, while enjoying a glass of something, your transcendent tunes in the background, working into the pace of nature, as considered living. Think of it as a modern ‘bathing ceremony’, if toddlers are deserving of one, why can’t we have one?!
Bohemen is for you seeking this moment of reconnection and reflection, with its original design, saltwater resistant aluminium and oak finish; materials that are as durable as they are beautiful. Welcome in nature and in your personal outdoor spaces.

Feel the benefits of a good soak.

Bohemen
With a Bohemen you won’t find any bling-bling, lights or speakers – only a pure, authentic, wood-fired bathing experience. The tub is made of saltwater resistant aluminium and has a comfortable interior seating in oak, so can accommodate two adults and two kids, in fresh or salt water, all year round. The light weight of the tub, combined with the simplicity of the design, makes it easy to move and clean – just unscrew the two nuts that hold the oak interior in place and remove. Whether in the inner city or the countryside, a Bohemen can help you discover the luxury of a wood-fired bath experience in locations where traditional hot tubs and saunas simply cannot be placed.

Craftsmanship and lifestyle perfectly combined.
Wellness in the snow under the stars: after 4 months we don’t want to be without this bathtub anymore. We enjoy the feel-good moments in the garden while taking a bath together. Heating up is also fun. Without any complex technology or installation.
A big thank you!

Best buy to the cabin
Probably the best investment we’ve ever made. It stands outside our cabin, in the forest in the northernhmost Angermanland. Out there, we’re taking a bath year around. In addition, is easy to take care of, easy to keep clean and it’s smooth to get the fire going. Also Hikki is a beautiful furniture in the garden.

Beautiful and restfull
Luxurious with outdoors all year round! Especially cozy to sit with the hat in place and enjoy warm water, the scent and the sound from the fire that creates calm and harmony icy! Easy to clean and empty. And also beautiful! Cover is recomended if you have it evenly.

Simple but royal
Bohemen is an elegant, functional, beautiful tub that is easy to handle before the bath and rewarding in the bath. For 10 years, I / we have used this bath both in summer and in autumn and winter, for ourselves, our adult children and with grandchildren who, just like us, love to lie in the water and enjoy the warmth. It is easy to maintain and a beloved jewel in our wonderful Japanese stone garden in Ådalen.

Have had mine for 4 years
It’s great, especially in autumn, but also as a cold bath when the temperature is currently close to 40 degrees in Sweden!

Fantastic
Got our tub today, and just had the first bath! A wonderful experience to lie and look at the stars in a warm and comfortable bathtub. Have previously had a wooden hot tub and think Bohemen is better in every way!

FAQs
What is the price?
AUD$ 10,450 (including GST) plus shipping.
What’s included?
Aside from firewood and water, our wood-fired bathtub includes everything you need to bathe immediately (setup is super quick), including:
- aluminium hot tub
- oak interior seating
- stove box with chimney and heat safety shield
- bolts and drain plugs
- welcome guide
Is there a lid or cover?
Yes, the Bohemen comes with a lockable cover, in line with relevant Australian spa regulations:
https://legislation.nsw.gov.au/view/html/inforce/current/act-1992-049
https://legislation.nsw.gov.au/view/whole/html/inforce/current/sl-2018-0503
Does it get to too hot/how does it stay a comfortable temperature?
The water temperature can be managed by the bather to avoid getting too hot through limiting the air intake by the fire chamber. The metal in the bathtub never gets hotter than the water. The stove pipe can get hot, so it is equipped with a heat protection barrier that is fastened to the flute.
For more detailed information on the Bohemen wood-fired bath and its operation, please also consult the user manual.
Is the fire exposed?
No, the fire is lit inside a sealed metal fire chamber, with a fully closeable lid.
What are the council regulations for the baths?
The wood-fired baths are legal in Australia, but for specific rules for your area we would recommend you speak to your local council. If you live in a rural area, we can also put you in touch with a Bushfire Consultant who can provide advice if needed.
Does it come assembled or is assembly required?
Yes it comes put together, with only some minor assembly needed to add the chimney and a few smaller parts. The bath can be moved by two people and the assembly completed by one. Standard assembly should not require professional installers unless optionally adding an electronic pump/filtration system (not required for standard operation). Total install can be as quick as 15min.
Is the bath portable?
Bohemen is easy to move if you want to change the bath’s position on your property or take your bath somewhere else. Two people can carry the aluminum bathtub for a shorter distance, however it is recommended you remove all equipment from inside the tub for convenience and safety.
Why can there be a yellow-brown tone in the water during the first baths?
On delivery, the tub’s wooden details are oiled with raw linseed oil which is washed out under water, so if the water takes on a yellowish-brown tone after the first bath: empty the tub and clean it thoroughly. The oil in combination with the wood’s natural pigments can slightly color the water, something that diminishes with each use. Also, to help the excess oils in the wood wash off and settle, do not leave water in the tub after use for the first few baths.
How many times can I bathe in the same water?
Untreated water (no disinfectant chemicals) should be used for no longer than one (1) week, and should be emptied and recycled (where applicable) at this point.
Should I disinfect my Bohemen wood-fired bathtub with chlorine?
No, the aluminium tub is already very hygienic, and you should not use chlorine in the water as it may discolor the aluminium. To disinfect the bath, simply empty the water and wash the tub with soap and a soft scrubbing pad.
Can I reuse the bath water in my garden?
-Because the bath does not use chemicals or chlorine, used water is considered ‘grey water’ and may be recycled into a nearby garden or vegetable patch – depending on your local council regulations on water recycling and drainage. Please check your local council regulations regarding any ‘grey water’ and drainage requirements in your area.
How long does it take to heat the bathtub?
It can take between 1-3 hours depending on conditions/season/quality of firewood and how closely the instructions are followed. The time tends to go by quickly and nothing beats the sense of reward for doing it yourself! POSSIBLE CHEAT Can also pour warm water into the bath which greatly reduce the time it takes to get it to suitable bathing temperature.
What is the advantage of the wood fired bathtub over a spa?
Each to their own, some prefer the ‘instantaneousness’ of spas while others prefer to work at pace with nature and earn the reward of the process, you would have heard the Japanese term Ikigai and living a fulfilled life, at the risk of being too melodramatic, the process yields itself to the philosophy. Once you’ve experienced a wood-fired bathtub and hear the gentle crackling of the fire in the chamber and aren’t exposed to power-hungry jets or nasty chemicals it’s hard to go back!
Is it suitable for guests and is it too much work for the guest/proprietor?
Accommodation venues that have a wood-fired bathtub can and do charge more for their experience and there is an opportunity to upsell firewood. Some properties prefer to have it pre-lit for their guests, while others encourage guests to DIY and others still offer it as an additional optional charge.
How does shipping work?
We can quote it up and ship it or we can elect your own shipment service.
